In this recipe for Savory Hummus, the addition of Bragg’s Liquid Aminos plays an important part by adding a slight salty flavor without actually using salt.  Feel free to use Coconut Aminos in place of Bragg’s if you wish.  If you are looking for a comfort food or a savory food, this just might do the trick.  An interesting twist on this recipe is to sprinkle a bit of Pumpkin Spice Seasoning on top just before serving.  Of course this is optional, but brings the flavor to a whole new level.  If you are looking for something to add a bit of a bite, try Parma! Chipotle!

Lime juice has scent that causes your mouth to water and actually aids primary digestion.  Primary Digestion is the digestive saliva that floods your mouth even before you taste food. (1) The compounds found in the oils extracted from lime stimulate the digestive system and increase secretion of digestive juices, bile, and acids. (1)  Plus, the roughage in lime is helpful in easing constipation, but it’s also high in acidity.  (1) Lime juice with the addition of salt can act as a purgative, thereby providing relief from constipation. (1)

Ingredients:

  • 1 C Organic Canned Chickpeas
  • 1/4 C Tahini
  • 1 t Garlic Powder
  • 1 T Lime Juice
  • 1 T Bragg’s Liquid Aminos
  • Optional Toppings: Nutritional Yeast, Parma!, and/or Pumpkin Spice Seasonsing

Directions:

  1. Put all ingredients into a high speed blender until smooth.  Add a little water if needed.  Top as you see fit.
