Frankincense oil has significant meaning within the Christian faith, as this is one of the gifts offered by the three wise men to the newborn, Jesus. This oil has made its way into numerous religious practices, but is also used in aromatherapy, as well as for medicinal purposes. (1)

Research from Cardiff University found that Frankincense inhibits the production of inflammatory molecules, and helps prevent the breakdown of cartilage tissue that causes arthritis. Along these lines, the oil was found to reduce pain associated with rheumatoid arthritis. (1)

A study from University of Leicester reported that compound AKBA, found in Frankincense, has the ability to target cancer cells in late stage ovarian cancer patients. The study’s authors were able to show its effectiveness at killing cancer cells. If you do not have Frankincense oil in your home, it is a worthy investment. Essential oils often last for a long time, depending on how frequently they are used. Frankincense oil is one of the higher priced oils, but a great investment in your long-term health.
