Garlic has many amazing benefits and has been found to aid with treating over 150 ailments. A few studies have been conducted to test the benefits of garlic in treating baldness. In a study conducted in Turkey by Mazandaran University of Medical Sciences, researchers from Iran tested how garlic can help people with alopecia, also known as hair loss or baldness, by utilizing a garlic gel application on the scalp twice daily. They discovered that garlic, “significantly added to the therapeutic benefits seen in the improvements of alopecia.” (1,3)

Garlic contains a sulfur compound similarly found in onions, which were also found to treat hair loss effectively. The researchers in the journal Dermatology discovered that the use of crude onion juice gave significantly higher results with regard to hair re-growth than did tap water and that it can be an effective topical therapy for patchy alopecia. One of the ways you can treat your hair loss symptoms is to rub sliced cloves of garlic directly on your scalp, squeezing the juices out to reap the most benefit. (5)

You can also infuse oil with garlic and massage the oil into the scalp.
