Is a 3 day detox diet enough to see any changes?

A three-day raw food detox cleansing diet can be very beneficial in removing harmful pollutants from your body and also act as great jumpstart to your raw food diet plan.

The human body is very capable of filtering out environmental and dietary toxins through the liver, kidneys, lungs, and skin. However, like any filter, organic or inorganic, long term use without proper cleaning can reduce efficiency and cause toxic build up.

Symptoms of internal toxic build up include chronic fatigue, acne and other skin breakouts, constipation, dark urine, and respiratory problems. If you are experiencing one of more of these symptoms, you may benefit from conducting a gentle three-day raw food detox diet.

While there are different variations of the three-day detox diet, they all follow these general guidelines:

  • Eliminate caffeine, processed foods, complex sugars, smoking, and alcohol
  • Consume lots of raw fruits and vegetables
  • Drink plenty of water

Detox comes from not just changing, but reducing

Following a three-day raw food detox diet simply restricts the person cleansing to raw fruits, vegetables, herbs, and nuts for nutritional intake.

Eliminating meat and dairy helps to further cleanse the body of harmful bacteria and toxins that enter the body as a result of consuming animal products and/or cooked food.

Detoxifying your body helps to cleanse the blood and helps revitalize filtering organs and optimize their performance. It will also give your gastrointestinal system a chance to flush toxic waste material without interruption from new toxins entering the body simultaneously.

More than just eliminating foods, the addition of other foods and/or herbs, can further detox

In addition to the raw food, a successful raw food detox will include raw herbs that aid in the internal cleansing process. Infusions using lemon, ginger, senna, milk thistle, star anise, fennel, and other herbs can be made with warm or hot water and can really help your body release pollution and toxins in a matter of days. There are many liver and kidney cleansing infusion recipes available online using these herbs.

Flush out the system, and stay hydrated by drinking plenty of water

Besides raw detox food, one must consume a lot of water on the three-day raw food detox diet. Raw living food does contain lots of water in and of itself, but in order to replenish a body that is almost 80% water, lots of pure filtered water (not tap water) is needed.

Every vital chemical process that takes place in the body requires water (even the burning of fat), so it is of the utmost importance that pure water intake remains high. Drinking lots of water also assists the liver and kidneys in processing and flushing out the toxins that you wish to remove on your detox cleanse, allowing you to release most of them in the form of urine and sweat.
